Amry is bored... beware. My style of RPG differs from a lot of what I've seen on some sites, particularly this one. (Of course, most of mine crash, soooo...) Can you handle the diversity?
This one is taken from my own beloved imaginary world, Paska. I won't get (very) complex, but Nick will probably understand the inspiration for this better than I will.
Know that I get very wordy even in my RPGs. If you're too bored to read the intro, you probably won't like the RPG itself.
The background (you need to know this. Trust me.
Paska is a country/world inhabited by several kinds of beings:
1. Humans. Plain and simple.
2. Paskans. They tend to be taller and broader than humans, and prefer mountains and forests to live in, but they intermix with humans just fine.
3. Living Spirits. The Living Spirits are Spirits of animals and plants. No one in Paska has any idea where they come from... they just are. They're generally humanoid, except when they choose to become the type of animal they're the Spirit of. They do mix with humans and Paskans, but they're not all-knowing and they don't live forever.
4. Non-living Spirits. All non-sentient Spirits. Spirits of rocks, specific bodies of water, etc. They're sentient like the Living Spirits, but they can't leave the inanimate thing they're tied to.
5. Chantillians. The inhabit the Barrens of Chantillia, located smack-dab in the middle of Paska. They're half animal Spirit, half human, and are basically regarded as abominations by the rest of the world. They hate leaving the Barrens, except when honor drives them to it. They're made up of dozens of small clans that are constantly sniping at each other for territory. Any non-Chantillian who walks in will never walk out again. They're monotheistic (contrary to the rest of Paska) and have their own language and a very strict code of honor.
The story (Oh no! Not a holy war!!):
The Barrens of Chantillia are not barren. They are lush and beautiful forest and grassland, but are only called so because of the Chantillians' preventing anyone else enjoying them. Our story takes place some time ago, when Chantillians didn't wander so far from home and all was in a relative state of peace.
This was also the time of King Amrus II, a king so devoted to the Five Gods that he resolved to destroy any existing non-believers in their name. People converted quickly, and within a year the only ones not adoring the Five were the Chantillians. Amrus claimed he had received a vision from the Lady Skye (their Goddess of War) commanding him to strike down the barbarians of Chantillia for their unbelief. He led a party of a thousand into Chantillia, expecting no resistance.
Amrus was the only one who made it out alive.
Resolving in the name of the Gods to win this war, he staked out his troops, sending a few into the woods every day. When he had lost a thousand more to the Chantillians, he called for the Spirits' aid.
All the Living Spirits flocked to his call, as Spirits will when summoned. With this endeavour Amrus had more luck. Soon, Chantillian casualties were reported every day.
We find the Chantillian clans spread apart over Chantillia, each agreeing by their code to drop the boundaries of territory in their need. They snipe and slip away, each using the abilities of the animals they are a part of to help.
If you read that story (and/or the background), please type "Cave of Evil - One Free Pass" in your opening post.
[glow=pink,2,300]Now then! To the rules![/glow]
1. Thou shalt not Godmode. Meaning, no "Ooooooh yeah! I am a half tiger and I jumped out of the trees, catching Amrus by surprise and killing him instantly." No. No hurting or killing anyone - state your attack/intent and let them respond. No saying what happens to your opponent/ally or what they do.
2. On those lines, should you decide to be a Chantillian in this RPG, you may be half of ONE ANIMAL ONLY. No half human/half wolf/half bird. That's what Zinny's Genetics RPG is for.
3. You may be:
A human soldier
A Paskan soldier
A Living Spirit
A Chantillian
Be anything else without my permission and prepare to be smited. (Smote?)
You may ASK for any special rank, such as advisor to Amrus, military leader, Chantillian clan leader, etc.
4. Keep it clean and respectful.
If you've read those rules, add to your previous requirement, "Cute people only admitted."
Have fun! I shall be along shortly to make my opening post.
