Well, Scatha is doing very well. For a few days he was sick, but he got better very quickly. My brother had to take five minutes to convince me that staying out of school to be with him was NOT a good idea! A lady at my mom's work is selling a 2 and a half foot long iguana AND its 7-foot tall cage for only $50! An iguana + cage would normally be about $350 - $400. My mom actually did consider it, but decided that we have too little room and too many animals already. Should this be in the pets thread or the venting thread? Elly + Nick: Congratulations on your birds!!!

Well, you mentioned Scatha, so the Animals thread is good.
Cool, about the huge lizard! Sorry you couldn't get it. Maybe after a while she will reconsider ya know? Mom's though...they never forget anything...it's weird. They are like a whole different species...uncanny...lol. Sorry, in a weird mode.
How did you come up with the name Scatha?

Scatha the Wurm was a dragon in Lord of the Rings. It just kinds fit him. His middle name is Elly (duh) and his last name is Softspike, just because I couldn't think of anything else.

Yeah.. seriously. One day one of our kitty cats (the cat, in term, is dead now.. it was about 5-6 years back when we lived in a mobile home park with the only -REAL- house.) got fed up with it, and lured them out of their cage and struck 'em down. Yeah, we were sad; but relieved too. It meant no more lizard bites at 2: 30 A.M. in the morning. xDDD

I have a soft spot for all lizards, including ones that bite, because mine does too. Poor iguanas... hope it didn't hurt them too much. They're under the Big Basking Light in the Sky now. My lizard is very smart. He can do simple cause-and-effect comprehension, which is something it takes HUMAN children a year or two to learn. How do I know? He understands that when the light goes on, there will be mealworms in the very near future. He understands that when the empty vegetable dish disappears, it will soon return full of lettuce. The best proof: When I change the sand in his cage, I always prop up a piece of cardboard to separate him from my hands so I'm not eaten alive and to make my job easier. Divide and conquer. Well, I was scooping out old sand, and Scatha knew there was something going on, but he's too small to see over the cardboard. So, he stared at it in the adorable way he has, turning his head to one side, then the other and scratching at the object in question, and then I saw the lightbulb go on. I swear, I saw his eyes light up like, "Oh! I get it now!" He backed up a few steps and charged the cardboard and knocked it down. And promptly attacked the pooper-scooper. I wuv my widdle Scatha... or, my Snoopy-Binkle-Muffin as I call him. Also, I think he can recognize different songs. I have very few CDs, and I play some over and over. He particularly likes songs with acoustic guitar and some, but not too much, bass. He loves Yo Yo Ma (he has very good taste) and hates Avril Lavigne. He thinks she's too high-pitched and loud. Also, he likes NPR. All the deep voices talking soothe him. Once I saw him dancing, bobbing his head up and down to the beat. He's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooo cute! So, now you know what I obssess about: FMA and my lizard. I'll post a picture of the Lizard God soon. Another nickname for him. I sacrifice mealworms to His Royal Scaliness. Ha ha! I'm lke those old ladies who spoil their chihuahuas.
