Rain in New York.
Okay. That's normal.
Snow in Canada.
That's normal too.
Hail the size of baseballs in Japan.
Err.. okay, bad weather I guess...
Tempature drops of 13 degrees. In 5-8 areas. Soon to be almost everywhere. People are freezing before they can even get out of their cars.
You wanna know what's -really- abnormal?
Feet of snow in TEXAS. The fact that this movie -CAN- happen, and probably WILL happen, if we don't stop freakin' polluting and causing the ice caps to slowly melt!
This movie takes a big-budget, special-effects-filled look at what the world would look like if the greenhouse effect and global warming continued at such levels that they resulted in worldwide catastrophe and disaster, including multiple hurricanes, tornadoes, tidal waves, floods and the beginning of the next Ice Age. At the center of the story is a paleoclimatologist (a scientist who studies the ways weather patterns changed in the past), Professor Jack Hall (Quaid), who tries to save the world from the effects of global warming while also trying to get to his son, Sam (Gyllenhaal), who was in New York City as part of a scholastic competition, when the city was overwhelmed by the chilling beginnings of the new Ice Age. In addition to all of the other challenges Dr. Hall faces, he's also going against the flow as humanity races south to warmer climes, and he's nearly the only one going north...
I like this movie. It's got some funny parts. Like when Sam and his friends and a bunch of people are iced in that library and the guard comes up to Sam's friend, who is frantically working on a radio.. thing.. I think.. and says:
"Need some help there?"
And he doesn't even stop. He just says:
"Sir, I'm captian of the electronics, math, AND chess club, so if there's a bigger nerd in here then please, point him out."
This happen to be something I wanna do an RP over one day. It would kick major bum
It's pretty interesting. It's got some cussing in it here and there, so if you're one of those that doesn't really like grade-A cussing a few times in a movie then you outta not get/see it. Or if you have anything against ice. Go and see it and its wonderfulnessnessnessness! Or I will eat you LIKE A DONUT!!
