~THE HOUSE~
The Mansion
At the end of the suburban area of Durem, there is a very tall, steep hill. Up the hill leads an old gravel road that twists and curves about. It ends at a black iron gate. There starts a cobblestone path that passes straight through an old garden. On both sides of the path you can see dead flowers, mainly roses, and other plants. In the middle, the path circles around a rather large old marble fountain that has very dark and dirty water. To the right of the fountain is a black iron bench.
The path leads to an old two-story mansion, which seems to have been abandoned for quite some time and looks rather sinister. All of the windows are broken, many shingles have fallen off the roof, and there are quite a few large holes in the white stone walls. The three steps up to the porch have marks from the many people that walked on them long ago. Two of the four Roman-style pillars holding up the roof of the porch look slightly unstable and have many large scratches and chips in them.
The big black double-doors are the only thing that separate you from the horrible secrets within The House.
The Mystery
It is said that many years ago, the family that owned this mansion was very rich and powerful, even more so than the current Von Helson family, or the Gambinos as they were before the the accident at the S.U.T.F. The family was the Merrilands, who were very generous and kind. They often gave large donations to various charities, and they even let orphans stay in the mansion for free. Abraham Merriland, his wife, Clarissa, and Claudia, his daughter, were all very popular in Gaia.
Claudia was the most popular. She was very young at the time of the horrid event, only twelve years old, and she looked even younger. She was a fragile little thing and was ill all her life. The girl had pinkish, pale skin, fluffy blonde hair, and her famous blue eyes. These eyes were large and sparkled with innocence. She was loved by all, and also was constantly worried about. Every time she went into one of her very ill spells, everyone in Durem would be talking about it.
However, the thing they worried about most was her sleep-walking. Around midnight, Claudia would rise from her bed and walk out onto the balcony of her room on the second floor of the mansion. Nobody knew why, but she would just cling to the rail and stare out over the forest behind the hill. The hill, I should mention, is very steep behind the mansion, and is almost like a cliff. If Claudia were to fall off the balcony, she would land at the bottom of the hill.
On the eve of her thirteenth birthday, that is exactly what she did. Normally, a maid or butler would lock the door to the balcony before Claudia went to bed, but they were all getting the mansion ready for the birthday ball. When they found out what had happened the next morning, her position on the ground made it seem as though she had thrown herself off the balcony, but the broken rail, bloody knife, and bruises found on her body suggested otherwise.
The people of Gaia were outraged. They demanded that the killer be found and tortured, then killed. However, the remaining Merrilands made no reply, and they soon disappeared from their mansion, never to be seen again.
Who killed Claudia... and why?
This is Where you Come In
You are a member of a small family that has decided to move into this old house. The father thinks it will be fun and exciting. The mother thinks the place is hideous and repairs will cost too much. The children are scared, wondering if the home is haunted, and the teens are a bit... miffed. Does the ghost of Claudia really lurk within the walls of The House? Maybe your unlucky family will find out.

The Rules
1. ABSOLUTELY NO CHATSPEAK. It gives me a headache. Also, no *actions*. This is a literate RP.
2. No godmoding, though there won't be many chances to do it, anyway.
3. Try to keep it PG-13. Blood and gore is okay, and so is a little romance, but no really heavy stuff.
4. Mention something pointy in your first post. (It helps if you put a lot of emphasis on it.)
5. Remember that this is a horror RP, not comedy or romance. You may add them in at times, but focus on the horror.
6. I play the part of the ghost because I already have the end of this story planned. I also control the scary events.
7. Try to stay in-character most of the time. All out-of-character talk must go between (( and )).
8. Once you join, please try to post often. I understand if you have school like I do, but please don't just ignore this thread if you don't want to play. PM me if you want to leave or are going to be gone for a while.
9. Enter at your character's own risk!
Joining
To join, you must post a paragraph-form description of your character as they are entering The House. Things you must include are their name, age, gender, appearance, and the position you want for them. The first person to post their description may choose the family name. I will add your name to the list if you are accepted. If your name is not on the list, but you know that I have been online to see your post, PM me. Sometimes I forget.
The F.A.Q.
(Well, not really, but I know these questions are on some people's minds.)
Why is the RP literate?
Because chatspeak hurts, and *actions* are boring and get old. I like descriptiveness, and chatspeak and *actions* make that hard. I like it to look like a story, like I'm reading/writing a book. It also makes it more serious, which is good for a horror RP.
Why is it a horror RP?
Because I'm not a good writer and I couldn't let this idea go to waste.
Where did you come up with this idea?
It just popped into my head one day after reading some of the book Dracula. It's a really awesome book, and it inspired me. Lucy's sleep-walking is sort of how I got the idea for Claudia. Of course, Claudia didn't wander out to get the blood sucked out of her by a vampire. Whoops, spoiler.
Why is it called "The House on the Hill?"
You think of a better title.
Why don't you have an actual character?
I'm afraid that if I did, I might focus too much on her and not enough on the story and the other characters. I might get one eventually. It depends on how many people decide to play.
Durem? Von Helson? Gambino? S.U.T.F.? What are you rambling about??
I originally started this game on GaiaOnline. Those names are from the website. My game never got popular there...
Which Azumanga Daioh character are you most like?
Sakaki. I'm a quiet cat lover. Then again, Osaka might fit me. My mind wanders like hers.
Was anyone really wondering about that?
Probably not...
Enjoy your stay...
